Hutsy Financial Terms of Service

Terms of Service Effective Date: May, 2025
1. Eligibility
  • At least 18 years old
  • A resident of Canada or the United States
  • Able to form a legally binding agreement
2. Services Provided

Hutsy provides financial tools including:

  • Bill monitoring and coverage when your balance is low
  • Subscription tracking and cancellation features
  • Notifications about upcoming payments
  • Optional financial benefit services for employers (if applicable)

Note: Hutsy does not issue loans. Instead, we directly pay your approved bills and schedule repayment.

3. Account Registration

To use Hutsy, you must:

  • Create an account with accurate and current information
  • Connect your bank account using a secure third-party service (e.g., Plaid)
  • Keep login credentials secure

You are responsible for all activity under your account.

4. Fees

Hutsy charges:

  • Monthly Subscription: $9.99 CAD/USD (based on your region)
  • Service Fee: 5% on bills we cover on your behalf

All fees are non-refundable unless required by law.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use Hutsy only for lawful purposes
  • Provide accurate financial and billing data
  • Repay covered bills on the agreed schedule
  • Not use Hutsy for fraud or misrepresentation
6. Bill Coverage Criteria

You may receive notifications for bill coverage if:

  • You have active recurring income
  • Your card is valid and not expiring within 3 months
  • Your Hutsy subscription is paid
  • You are not currently in default or behind on payments

We reserve the right to deny coverage at our discretion.

7. Cancellations & Refunds

You can cancel your membership at any time via the app:
Settings → Membership → Cancel Membership

Important Cancellation Information:

  • Your account will remain active until the end of your current billing period.
  • If a payment was already submitted for processing, it may appear on your card within 7–15 business days even after cancellation.
  • This is due to Stripe’s smart retry process and delayed billing system.
  • If you have already been charged for this billing period, you will not be charged again.
  • Future billing will cease upon successful cancellation.
  • Refunds are not guaranteed and are only provided where required by law.

By confirming your cancellation in-app, you agree to the terms above and acknowledge any pending charges that may still process.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in fraudulent or abusive activity
  • Fail to repay Hutsy-covered amounts
9. Limitation of Liability

Hutsy is not liable for:

  • Missed payments not caused by Hutsy
  • Bank errors or third-party service failures
  • Any indirect or consequential damages

Maximum liability is limited to the total fees paid by you in the past 12 months.

10. Privacy

Your personal and financial information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of Hutsy after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
